You might ask yourself, what does a mammogram have to do with heart disease or a stroke.
I speak often about this association with my female patients in order to give them another motivation to get their yearly mammogram. The first time I wrote about this association was in 2012. At that time, I presented a study that suggested patients whose mammograms showed calcified arteries were more than three times as likely to develop heart disease and four times as likely to have a stroke in the five-year period after the mammogram.
